A-to-A Trail
This is a trail that ends where it starts.
A-to-B Trail
This is a trail that starts at one place, ends in another, a.k.a. point to point trail.
Check
This is a trail mark indicating an intersection where the true trail may take another direction. The Hounds shout this when they see a check mark so that the Hounds following know that they need to start paying attention and looking for the trail.
Dead Hare
This is a Hash where the Hare lays the entire trail before the pack starts the run.
Down-Down
This is the ceremony of quaffing a beverage. (Given as an honor). Similar to the ‘gangbei’
Down-Downs
This is the ceremony of honoring deserving Hashers after the trail .
False Trail
This is a section of trail going nowhere. It’s designed to slow down the FRB's in the pack and give the Hare a greater lead.
FRB
This stands for Front-running Basta-- and describes a Hasher who likes to run at the front of the pack and though s/he knows it is not a race still tries to be the fastest.
Grand Master
This is a MisManagement member, the ceremonial leader of the kennel; a.k.a. Hash Master. MasterKater is the Suzhou H3 Grand Master.
Hares
These are the Hashers who lay the trail; see Live Hare, Dead Hare
Hare Raiser
This is the Mismanagement member responsible for finding and recruiting Hares for each Run. LTTB is the Suzhou H3 Hare Raiser.
Harriette
This is a name for a female Hasher.
Hash Brew
This is the Mismanagement member who is responsible for ordering beverages and snacks for each Hash and ensuring that they get to the starting point of each Run. Agatha is the Suzhou H3 Hash Brew.
Hash Cash
This is a Mismanagement member; the treasurer of the club. Hash Cash can also refer to the financial resources of the Hash. Gary is the Suzhou H3 Hash Cash.
Hash Flash
This is the official Hash photographer. The Suzhou H3 is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and discreet Hash Flash. Please apply to Mismanagement if you are interested.
Hash Haberdash
This is the Mismanagement member in charge of Hash T-shirts, hats, mementos, etc. Ivana is the Suzhou H3 Haberdash.
Hash Horn
This is the Hound or Mismanagement member who carries a horn or bugle on trail and blows it to encourage and guide the pack.
Hash Name
This is a nickname, usually bestowed after a Hasher has done at least three Runs and has Hared at least one Run.
Hounds
The Hounds are the body of Hashers in pursuit of the Hare.
Live Hare
This is a Hash where there is a Hare who gets a nominal head start and is pursued by the pack as he/she lays the trail.
Mismanagement
This term refers to Hash officials; sometimes elected, sometimes appointed. MasterKater, Agatha, Gary, Tiny Tim, Ivana and LTTB are the Suzhou H3's Mismanagement members.
On-On
This is shouted by hounds to indicate they're on trail, sometimes used only to indicate true trail. On-on can also mean the trail markings used instead of an arrow.
On-One ("On-Two," etc)
This is shouted by hounds to indicate the number of flour marks they've seen on an unexplored trail, usually after a check.
Religious Advisor
This is the Mismanagement member responsible for running the Circle, keeping discipline and setting the appropriate tone for Hash gatherings. The Suzhou H3 Religious Advisor is Tiny Tim.
Shiggy
This term means jungle, thick vegetation, rocks, cliffs, streams, etc; especially mud, and should be shouted as a warning to other Hashers following when stepped into by an FRB.
Snail
This is someone who is a slow runner, jogger, or even a walker, also known as the Knitting Circle.
Snail Trail
This is a special trail designed for the slower runners, joggers or walkers. If the Hares do their job right, the Snails and the FRBs and everyone in between will all end up at the same place at approximately the same time at the end of the Run.
Virgin
This is a first-time Hasher or first-time Hare.
