Wuxi Tea Hash-Run Number 4 (away) - 14.11.2009
After a week straight of rain, we were all a bit stir-crazy and psyched up for a Hash out in the Wuxi hills. The Wuxi H3 had boasted that they had to use machetes to cut a trail through the Wuxi wilderness, so everyone was ready for a good cross-country run. And as usual, the Wuxi H3 did not disappoint. The sun came out and gave us blue skies as our Hashbus took a festive group of 15 of us from Suzhou out to Wuxi. We all started out in an unassuming parking lot, surrounded by curious local onlookers. From there it was through the village and straight into the hills. Very rough almost vertical terrain got everyone winded to start off and then as we started to descend, the FRB's ran off ahead in hot pursuit of the trail, taking the quicker runners along with them. The knitting circle ran into them later, backtracking the way they had gone, and the whole group moved onto the newly hacked-out trail that wound up down and around and ended with a stunning view of tea plantations as we descended out of the woods. The quiet run through the green of the tea pickers' paths reminded us all of some of the things we like most about living in this part of China. On returning to the parking lot, the Suzhou Hashers found that the water being served didn't quite quench the post-run thirst, so after a quick stop for a cold case of Tsingtao, our hashbus moved on to the circle and bash over in Wuxi City. The circle was nice, the bash was fun, but the real Kudos go to the Wuxi H3 for a memorable trail and Run! |
