Write-ups -Away

Big Buddha Hash-Run Number 2 (away) -17.10.2009

Ok,  so it's now almost a week later and still no write-ups on our great trip to the Wuxi Hash? We won't mention any names, but certain people DID promise to send on their Wuxi war stories from the Hash to be shared with the rest of the Suzhou Hashers who couldn't make it to the event...  These folks have actually been seen at watering holes around town telling tales of the Wuxi adventure, but it seems they have not yet found the time to put their thoughts and impression down onto paper yet. So in the meantime; a summary of events.

All will agree -The Wuxi Hash was a really good time. A cross-country run in a beautiful area in the shadow of the Lin Shan Big Buddha hosted by a great Hash group.  Seven Hashers from Suzhou joined the Wuxi Hash, and despite not knowing the area, managed to get there just in time for the start. The run was set up near the Linshan Big Buddha with winding paths through woods and gardens, and some nice hills to challenge those of us in better shape. Early on, our group was separated at the base of the first big hill by a screaming Wuxi banshee who warned of misfortune on the hillside.  Shadow, not being the superstitious type, got into a shouting match with her which resulted in the tail end of our group being separated from the forerunners. There was later speculation that the woman was actually just seeking protection money from the round-eyes, so we were all glad we had not given in to her demands. The two groups later met back up again at one of several checks which highlighted the particular Wuxi H3 style of not using False Trail marks to indicate that one was going the wrong way. This did lead to cries of  "Hashshit" as the group had to trek all the way back up one particularly steep slope, but it was all in good fun.  The post-run circle was particularly memorable to Grace from our Suzhou group as we are sure she has never before seen a Frenchman drink beer out of his running shoe on her behalf.  Nobody was sure if the kiss on the cheek he received in return was adequate compensation for the wet and smelly beer shoe he had to wear for the rest of the evening, but being a true French gentleman, he did not complain.  In any case, we can bet that Grace will ensure that her new shoes are well scuffed up before the next Hash! The Barbecue Bash was festive and notable for the variety of songs sung and languages they were sung in, as well as the special Wuxi mosquito repellant used. The Suzhou H3 thanks the Wuxi Hash House Harriers for being excellent hosts and proving us all with a fun and memorable experience.

On-on!
